What is the easiest language to learn? 3 easy languages to learn.

easy language to learn

Over the years we have had thousands of Languages, some of which have survived the test of time and are still spoken by many people and some of which have perished along the way.

History is important as it teaches us about where we have come from, where we are and where can we see ourselves in the future. Thus numerous researches have been conducted by various private and governmental organizations in determining what exactly is considered to be the easiest language.

Languages are important when you are planning to communicate with someone and in the present-day and age, learning a foreign language not only helps you communicate better, it helps establish you as someone who cares about someone enough to understand their culture, their lifestyles along with their language.

Over the years of trying to learn multiple languages, I have come across various different people or sites talking about how some languages can appear to be more difficult but are easier than perceived and few which might appear easy as being more difficult.

The determiner for this instance is numerous, some with a rather severe effect on language learning while others mine not affect it at all. Ever wondered why as a child you would learn languages very quickly but when you are an adult, it seems to take so long?

There are two hypotheses given around which are widely accepted and talk about this. The first is the critical period hypothesis which says that there is a period of growth in which full native competence is possible when acquiring a language. This period is from early childhood to adolescence.

This basically means that our brains are particularly good at picking up languages in those years. Although it is one of the more probable hypotheses it is not universally accepted. This Acquisition theory says that adults do not acquire languages as well as children because of external and internal factors, not because of a lack of ability.

Older learners rarely ever achieve a near-native accent. Many people suggest this is due to them being beyond the critical period. YouTuber Tom Scott has a video discussing this, in which he states that “We are born with the potential to learn any language but after a while surrounded by only a few or one language(s)

we work out what we need to listen for and stop listening for anything else.” He also talked about ‘Categorical Perception’ which is “one of the important characteristics of speech perception.

It allows us to distinguish between sounds, no matter how varied or similar they may be. For example, we can distinguish between the sounds of [b] and [p]. The sounds of these consonants differ by 0.06 seconds of voice onset time (VOT), or the time between when the lips are released and the vocal cords begin to vibrate.”

This means that at a certain point our minds by themselves block different sounds and just focus on certain wavelengths of sound which we more commonly hear. Thus literally closing our minds to the possibility of learning those languages. Now, worry not. Although it may seem or maybe even is more difficult, if you put your mind to it and spend enough time learning it, you will without a doubt be able to learn it.

Now, after all of that. Let me reveal 3 easy languages to learn being an English speaker.
